What is Earth Day?

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970 and is now recognized by millions of people around the world. The day is marked by various activities, including tree planting, community clean-ups, and environmental education programs. Earth Day serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.

The first Earth Day in 1970 drew attention to environmental concerns such as pollution, deforestation, and wildlife conservation. Over the years, Earth Day has evolved into a global movement, with people and organizations advocating for environmental awareness, policy changes, and sustainable practices.

On Monday 22nd April 2024 a day of eco-actions will take place at ABK Stuttgart to continue the aims of ABK Klimaschutz /abk_eco to raise raise environmental awareness. Student-led initiatives will take place. It will be a day of action and reflection with minimal consumption.
